![]() Like the other Old One's Army weapons, the Phantom Phoenix is a direct reference to the weapon of the same name in Dungeon Defenders 2, due to the Old One's Army event being a crossover event. The flaming phoenix is destroyed by liquids, making the Phantom Phoenix significantly less effective underwater. On the other hand, using piercing arrows such as Jester's or Unholy Arrows will make enemies only take damage from one of the arrows, cutting the damage output in half. With Holy Arrows, the double-shooting of the Phantom Phoenix makes it operate like the Daedalus Stormbow, with slightly fewer arrows per shot but easier to aim. This makes it compete with or exceed the repeaters for DPS when using normal arrows. However, it fires two arrows at once, doubling total damage done, and converts normal arrows into Flaming Arrows, making the Endless Quiver more powerful. The Phantom Phoenix has lower base damage than the repeaters available during early Hardmode. It also converts regular Wooden Arrows into Flaming Arrows, similar to the Molten Fury. The phoenix deals double the weapon's damage, and explodes when colliding with a wall. It fires two arrows at a time, spreading randomly similarly to the Chlorophyte Shotbow, and also fires a large phoenix with a waving arc every third / fourth shot. These deadly weapons come in 114 unique variations in the game. The Phantom Phoenix is a Hardmode bow dropped by the Ogre mini- boss during the Old One's Army event. COMPLETE guide to ALL bows and repeaters in Terraria, from worst to best and start (pre-hardmode) to finish (hardmode end game) This covers all platforms, 1.2.4 and 1.3+. Guns, bows, and rocket launchers fall under this weapon category in Terraria. They also trade the bows advantage of arrow recovery to achieve this effect. The Phantom Phoenix being used on a group of target dummies rangers as a class sacrifice mobility compared to other classes and thus have the highest DPS aditionally many of the arrows miss if used against sigle targets so are really only at full effectiveness against bosses and crowds hmm I'm seeing a trend here. The last 3 endgame bows indeed do high damage, as they are supposed to. Should we take away those weapons as well? Its full effectiveness requires specific use of arrows that do not pierce most commonly holy arrows which are relatively expensive to craft due to requiring a good amount of grinding and as a multishot bow it has no chance at arrow recovery. Second the Daedalus storm bow is a very situational weapon which is designed primarily for boss killing effective only in open areas or on the survival it gives ranged a carpet bombing weapon similar to what mages and melee get. In other words it has a high opritunity cost and doesn't carry well into hardmode. Indeed the hive pack improves it if playing on expert mode but the mode also improves enemy defense which rapidly cuts into the bows DPS and takes up an accessory slot which could otherwise be used for something more worthwhile. First remember that there are certain drawbacks to bows for instance The Bee's Knees only provides its effect with standard arrows and only spawns the same Bee projectiles as the other Bee weapons. For somthing to e overpowered it needs to be the option superior to its piers or trivializing certian parts of the game after its aquistion time. People over use the words OP tossing it around casually. So, Maybe I prefer a mix of them, bows for common mobs, and guns for bosses in pre-hardmode, and vice versa in hardmode.īy the way, archery potion and Magic Quiver are both good item exclusive for bows, and there is no such an item exclusive for guns(except the Shroomite helmet).Ĭlick to expand.I don't think bows are that powerful. The Venus Magnum is mouse breaker, the Sniper Rifle and Tactical Shotgun is good but difficult and late to obtain.įor end-game weapons, both Phantasm and Vortex Beater are good and powerful, and the SDMG is also good but may need some luck.įinally, in the pre-hardmode, guns seems to be more powerful than bows, but in hardmode, as we have some multi-shot bows, the bows are more powerful than guns. The Megashark is a little tricky to get, the Uzi and Gatligator may need some luck. Then, we can get Chlorophyte Shotbow and Powerful Tsunami.įor guns, the Clockwork Assault Rifle is good early hardmode, but there is not many good guns follow up. Then, in hardmode, the Titanium Repeater is easy to get by fishing and the Daedalus Stormbow is powerful for bosses. Normally, I use bows early, and changed to guns then (normally musket, the undertaker and then phoenix blaster). I normally use both of them, and it's hard to tell which one is better.
