There has been a few mods that were incorporated in the main game (e.g. It also let people that are not developers come up with ideas of how to improve or change a game, and nobody is forced to use that modification unless they want to. I personally like it a lot, it gives the user the possibility of customizing their game to their liking, trying new things, etc. It seems to me that your criticism is not to how Oolite handles mods but rather on the idea of modding in general. I do sympathize with what you are saying but I do not agree with it at all. Do you want more diversity in mining contracts? Do you planets and suns to be much further apart in order to look more realistic? Do you want market prices to fluctuate within a system? To spot escort formations? To fight for the navy? To be able to bribe guards in stations when arriving with contraband? Do you want to make some commodities illegal in some random systems? Do you want to be able to be contacted by ex-slaves that you saved and offered reward missions? There are OXPs for all of those and many more. its economy and development level)? Sure. Would you like to explore the galaxies without knowing what are the characteristic of the next planet (i.e. ![]() Do you want to be a taxi driver taking passengers from planet A to B? There is an OXP for that. The cool thing about Oolite is that there are SO many interesting OXPs that can really change the flavour. Some minor but super fun ones: In-System Taxi, Escort Formations, Email System, Broadcast Comms MFD, Docking Fees, Ship Respray * Random Hits: adds missions as bounty hunter Due to its size this is one of the few OXPs not available through the in-game manager * Povray Planets add unique textures to every single planet. * Stations for Extra Planets: adds stations to the planets above * Additional Planets Redux Pack + Demux Pack + SR Base + all SR texture packs: adds additional planets with amazing textures IV: pretty ship with very good characteristics (the one I use in those screenshots) * all Griff and gsagostinho's Retextures: better ship textures * Deep Space Pirates: adds more pirate encounters, recommendation is the same as above * Skilled NPCs: gives a boost to the AI, though I recommend installing this one after you get some experience in the game * Pirate Cove: adds pirate stations to some systems * Dictators: gives more flavour to dictorship systems * Feudal States: gives more flavour to feudal systems * Commies: gives more flavour to communist systems * Anarchies: gives more flavour to anarchist systems * Realistic Stars: nicer colours for the stars * System Features: Rings and Sunspots, adds planetary rings and sunspots * Font: DangerousSquareNew, adds a better font based on Elite Dangerous * Communications Pack A: adds extra chat for the AI ships * Zygo Cinematic Sky & Nebulas: adds better looking backgrounds * BGS: adds better backgrounds and sounds * Dangerous HUD: adds a cockpit to your ship * Start Choices: gives you more option to start the game, for instance having more credits and a better ship (an easier start) or start completely broke in a piece of trash (mega hard start) We know spam when we see it and will delete it.
